About Me

As a journalist, I'm not afraid to ask uncomfortable questions. I write about difficult topics that are oftentimes supposed to be spoken of only behind closed doors. I don't believe I'm giving a voice to the voiceless, I believe I'm amplifying the voices of those who've been silenced, ignored, and forgotten.

In 2026, I won the inaugural NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Literary Work – Journalism for her series “On Borrowed Time.” Throughout nine stories, I wrote about the people, policies, and systems that hurt or help Black patients who need an organ transplant.

I’m a 2026 Widening the Pipeline fellow through the National Press Foundation. And last year, I was a 2025 Association of Health Care Journalists U.S. Health System Reporting fellow.

I have a bachelor’s degree in integrated marketing communications from National University and an associates degree in journalism from San Diego Mesa College. My work has appeared in STAT, CalMatters, The Markup, Word In Black, PBS SoCal, inewsource, The San Diego Union-Tribune, Los Angeles Times, Voice of San Diego, and more.
